Saventis company and mission

Reading, Discussing,
Understanding.

Saventis was founded on a straightforward observation: many adults entering their forties and fifties find the language of personal finance opaque — not because the concepts are difficult, but because the reading habits and shared vocabulary around them were never properly developed.

How Saventis Came to Be

Saventis was established in Singapore in 2018 by a small group of educators and adult learning specialists who had spent years observing a consistent pattern: adults approaching retirement age were often well-informed about their careers, their families, and their health — but were markedly less comfortable when the conversation turned to money. Not investing, not trading, not complex instruments — simply the ordinary language of saving, schemes, and estate planning.

The difficulty was not intelligence. It was vocabulary and familiarity. The documents, the forms, and the discussions that surround personal finance in Singapore are written in a register that most adults have had limited practice reading. The result is that many people either defer entirely to others or avoid the topic altogether — neither of which serves them well.

The founding premise of Saventis was that this is a reading problem before it is anything else. If adults had spent time reading scheme documentation, discussing household saving frameworks with peers, and working through estate-related language in a structured setting, the conversations they needed to have — with family members, with advisers, with their own judgement — would be considerably easier.

We opened our first reading cohort in early 2019 with twelve participants. The format has not changed substantially since: reading in advance, discussion in small groups, materials that can be kept and returned to. What has changed is our understanding of which topics matter most and how to sequence them for a cohort in their forties and fifties.

To make financial reading a comfortable habit

Saventis exists to give adults the reading practice, shared vocabulary, and peer context to engage with personal finance topics on their own terms. We do not offer advice. We build the foundation that makes other conversations possible.

Reading-led. Discussion-centred. Educational in scope.

Every programme at Saventis follows the same structure: material is distributed in advance, and cohort sessions are used for discussion rather than instruction. Participants read together, question together, and leave with materials they can continue to consult independently.

Education only — not advice, not products

Saventis is not a financial advisory service. We carry no regulatory licence to advise and we do not seek to. Our programmes build the vocabulary and reading fluency that help adults engage more productively with the qualified professionals and institutions they will consult for actual decisions.

How We Operate

Educational Scope Only

All programmes are designed and delivered strictly as reading and discussion education. No financial advice, product recommendations, or regulated guidance is offered at any stage.

Source-Based Reading Materials

All reading materials are drawn from publicly available Singapore government documents, scheme guidelines, and officially published resources — clearly attributed and regularly reviewed for currency.

Privacy and Data Protection

Participant information is held in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) of Singapore. Enrolment data is used solely for programme administration and is never shared with third parties.

Small Cohort Structure

Cohort sizes are capped at ten to fourteen participants by design. This is not a commercial constraint — it is a pedagogical one. Discussion-based learning functions better in small, familiar groups.

Regular Curriculum Review

Reading materials and discussion frameworks are reviewed annually against current Singapore scheme documentation and policy updates to ensure all content remains accurate and contextually relevant.

Participant Feedback Loop

Every cohort completes a structured written review at the conclusion of the programme. Feedback directly informs material selection, discussion structure, and session pacing for future cohorts.

What Guides the Work at Saventis

Financial education in Singapore exists on a wide spectrum. At one end are licensed advisory services, authorised to offer recommendations tailored to individual circumstances. At the other are broad-stroke media articles, social posts, and informal conversations that circulate simplified or inaccurate versions of complex topics. Saventis occupies a deliberate position between these: structured, reading-led education that builds genuine comprehension without crossing into advice.

The adults who attend Saventis programmes are not novices in life. They have careers, families, and decades of considered decision-making behind them. What many of them share is a discomfort with the specific vocabulary of personal finance — the acronyms, the clause structures of scheme documentation, the language of wills and nominations. This discomfort is not a character trait; it is a knowledge gap, and knowledge gaps respond to reading.

We hold clarity, precision, and scope discipline as our three core values. Clarity means that every reading material and every facilitated discussion is structured to be genuinely legible — not simplified to the point of distortion, but organised so that the logic of each topic is visible and followable. Precision means that we draw from primary sources and we do not paraphrase in ways that alter meaning. Scope discipline means that we keep the boundaries of education and advice firmly distinct, in every session, without exception.

Saventis does not operate in a competitive frame. We do not measure ourselves against other providers or claim advantage through comparison. We focus on producing reading programmes that leave participants more comfortable, more articulate, and better equipped to engage with the qualified professionals and institutions that serve their financial lives — and we let the quality of that experience speak for itself.
